Your video file and audio stay on your computer for playback and transcription. Cloud translation receives subtitle text. We collect the account, licence, payment-status and technical data needed to provide the service. Public SubPlayer 0.5.17 enables app usage telemetry by default without a first-run consent prompt; you can turn it off in Settings. The current source changes the next signed release to explicit opt-in. We do not sell personal data or keep a server-side movie viewing history.

When you use cloud translation, subtitle text is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Google Gemini for translation. SubPlayer does not intentionally write subtitle content to its application database. Google states that prompts and responses from paid Gemini API services are not used to improve its products, but it may log them for a limited period for abuse prevention, security, and legal requirements. Provider handling is governed by the Gemini API terms and Google's Privacy Policy. Do not submit confidential subtitle content.
All payments are processed by Paddle.com. Paddle is the legal seller (Merchant of Record) and handles your card details, invoices, VAT, refunds, and subscription management. We receive only your email address and the plan you purchased. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:
Your email and licence record are kept for as long as your account is active, and for up to 3 years after cancellation for legal and accounting purposes. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7). App telemetry and user-submitted diagnostics are kept only while needed to understand product reliability or investigate a reported problem, then deleted or aggregated. You may request deletion unless retention is required for legal or security reasons.
You have the right to: access the data we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, request deletion ("right to be forgotten"), object to processing, and request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email info@getsubplayer.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Before sending diagnostics, review the preview because recent redacted log lines may still contain context you consider sensitive.
The website does not use advertising cookies. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity are not loaded until you accept analytics. If you decline, downloads, pricing and checkout remain available. Your choice is stored locally in the browser.
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Licence keys use Ed25519 cryptographic signatures. Supabase row-level security restricts direct client access, while privileged backend functions are limited to the operations required for licensing, translation and support.
SubPlayer is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We will post changes on this page and, for material changes, notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
