Generate subtitles from movie audio

Use this workflow when the movie has no usable subtitle track. Speech-to-text runs locally; translation is a separate online step.

Quick answer: open the movie, let SubPlayer transcribe dialogue on your PC, review the generated timing, and translate the subtitle text if you need another language.

Before you start

Clear dialogue produces better results than noisy or overlapping speech. Processing time varies by CPU, compatible NVIDIA GPU, movie length and quality mode.

Steps

  1. Open the movie.
  2. Select the spoken language if detection is uncertain.
  3. Start subtitle generation.
  4. Review timing and text.
  5. Translate if needed.

What local means

The movie and audio stay on the PC for transcription. Cloud translation receives subtitle text, not the movie or audio.

Expected errors

Names, whispering, multiple speakers and background noise may require correction.
